The Rundown: Jessica discovers who has been messing with her life as she faces a powerful group of Variants.
Jessica confronts Jewel on the roof of her home with her small team of Variants standing off against Jewel’s growing group. Jewel tells Jessica exactly what she wants and all of the people she has killed to get it. A spree that has crossed worlds and widowed countless Jessica’s across the multiverse. With Jessica’s family and her life at stake, she and her Variants begin to fight.
At the same time, Luke decides that he’s waited around long enough and goes to rescue his wife. As the battle rages atop their home, Jewel gets the drop on Jessica, but an unexpected save will give them the chance they need to end the conflict for good.
The Story: Gail Simone brings this story to a fantastic conclusion while showcasing just how dark and disturbing this characterization of Jewel is. I enjoyed every element of this finale issue from the dialogue to the way Jessica steps up to not only defend her life, but that of her Variants. There is some great humor throughout the issue as well and I love how it confirms the depths of her connection to Luke and vice verse.
The Art: Noto delivers some beautifully drawn art that has a unique and visually fun style. The art is compelling and engaging both in its action and its emotional moments.
