The Rundown: On the eve of a dark anniversary, Jessica Jones gets some strange visitors.
Jessica Jones is dealing with a lot and she has decided to stop doing one of the things that helped her deal and that’s drink coffee. As she stands staring at the coffee shop she used to frequent, a sudden headache sends her reeling and she is rescued by Daredevil who reminds her that a victim of Killgrave needs her help.
After speaking with the victim and discovering something potentially dark looming for her on the anniversary of her final confrontation with him, Jessica calls in some help. When she returns home to her husband and daughter, she finds another Jessica in her apartment. After starting to take down her duplicate, they both find themselves staring into the face of a third Jessica Jones.
The Story: Gail Simone delivers a powerful, fun and engaging first issue. I love the tone of the story and where it begins with Jessica emotionally and psychologically. The commentary and inner monologue are fantastic throughout and I love the mystery that is being formed and its connection to her. The final scene of the issue hooked me and I cannot wait to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Noto delivers some fantastic art in the first issue. I love the tone of the art as well as its focus on Jessica through close up shots and facial expressions. The art is a great showcase of mood and emotion.
