The Rundown: Rogue’s team goes on a rescue mission to Graymalkin Prison and run into some familiar faces.
Two different X-Men teams have members taken by Corina Ellis to their former home which has now become Graymalkin Prison. Unfortunately, both teams have their own ideas about how they want to rescue their members and Rogue is not waiting for Cyclops, who believes having both teams will bring more danger to mutants. At the same time, Jubilee is preparing to escape while Calico is thrown out.
Things get intense when Cyclops and his team invade the prison and Calico’s incursion allows Rogue and her team to engage as well. Unfortunately, Ellis is ready for them and sends her trustees to stop them while also attacking them mentally. A move that will pit the teams against each other while they have another threat lying within the prison waiting to be unleashed.
The Story: Simone continues to craft a fantastic story in this series and this issue is filled with awesome tension and action. I love the interpersonal dynamics between Scott and Rogue and the buildup of every moment is beautifully executed. This story is becoming bigger and more complex as the series progresses and needs a thoughtful hand and gifted storyteller like Gail Simone to guide it. I cannot wait to see what she does next.
The Art: Marquez and Salazar deliver beautifully detailed and visually stunning art throughout the issue. The character designs are fantastic and the action is thrilling on every page and panel.
