The Rundown: Former X-Men continue to deal with threats as they try to determine if they can truly be heroes.

Logan pays a visit to an old friend and finds himself caught up in an adventure with Rogue and Gambit as a dragon has claimed a historical landmark as its new lair. In the wake of their encounter, they meet with Nightcrawler to comfort a dying mutant child and the encounter makes Rogue question who and what they should be.

At the same time, new residents have taken over the site of the Xavier institute and plan on turning it into something monstrous while a dark entity hunts mutants for its own twisted ends.

The Story: Simone crafts a wonderfully introspective story that doesn’t forget the action, thrills and intrigue I was looking for in this new iteration of Uncanny X-Men. The story has some wonderful emotional layers to it while also crafting some engaging and compelling mysteries that I want to explore within this series and with these characters. A great first issue that creates fantastic moments and mysteries that guarantee that I will be picking up the next issue.

The Art: Marquez delivers amazing art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and how beautifully the characters and their world blend together.

I would give it 6.5. The plot was scattered and it felt like there were 3 stories. Very slow start. The dragon story was interesting but went nowhere. I want more for $6. I would have to be a kid having my parents pay $6 for something like this today, comics were much cheaper when I was a kid.
