The Rundown: Swamp Thing must find a way to escape being hunted by the Suicide Squad.
After taking down Heatwave, the rest of the Suicide Squad is divided. Peacemaker doesn’t think they can take Swamp Thing, but Waller has other plans and none of them include her team failing. At the same time, Swamp Thing’s connection to the green continues to grow and he can remember the history of the land he’s on including the recent attack on it. An attack that makes his mission clear. When Levi finds himself under attack, he retreats into his memories.
As his attacker probes the depths of his grief, we learn the truth of Levi’s loss and the man within the Swamp Thing is given a choice. One that will sever him from the green forever if he takes it.
The Story: Ram V delivers a brilliant, deep and emotional journey in this issue. The story is beautifully laid out with equal parts action, tension and heart. The back story for Levi is engaging and the pain of the character makes his journey all the more compelling. I love the build up throughout this issue and the ending left me clamoring for more.
The Art: Mike Perkins delivers the perfect amount of beauty, grit and darkness all through the art in this issue. Each page is filled with amazing imagery.
