The Rundown: Holland and Jennifer battle to revive Swamp Thing as new and powerful entities emerge.
Harper Pilgrim has been changed due to the experiments of Woodrue and his new form has a new idea of its place in the world as well as its purpose. One that will make it dangerous as it assumes a new identity and begins its dark work. At the same time, Holland fights off dangerous enemies as Jennifer attempts to reach Levi who is still holding onto the memories of his brother and refusing to take his place as protector of the green.
After showing the new Swamp Thing the truth about its existence and connection, Levi fights back. On the other side of the world, a lone figure takes to the streets of the city and discovers a gruesome sight that will bring him to the Swamp Thing as a potential ally while another entity emerges from beneath the Earth with a will of its own as it begins to stalk the night.
The Story: Ram V is creating an incredibly interesting and engaging world for these characters in this issue. Creating so many different characters as challengers to Swamp Thing allows Ram V to explore some really intriguing themes that captured my imagination and attention as the story progressed. The story does a brilliant job of showcasing Levi’s struggle while also building on both his relationships and the changing world that he will have to defend. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Perkins delivers some beautiful art on every page of this story. Each character moment has its own visual mood and they work brilliantly together to tell the story.
