The Rundown: During the pandemic, a writer goes looking for his missing girlfriend and finds something terrifying.
It’s the height of the pandemic and Darren is looking for his girlfriend Lauren. Unfortunately, what he finds is a disturbing scene filled with monstrous creatures. As he attempts to escape the house and find Lauren, the rocky moments of their relationship play out in his mind as he comes to the realization that his jealousy and selfishness drove her away.
After making it outside, Darren decides that it is time to fight back. Unfortunately, his battle will reveal a shocking truth brought to life by the power of the Silver Coin.
The Story: Pornsak Pichetshote delivers a timely and entertaining story in this issue. The horror is beautifully done and the story is filled with great tension as well as engaging characters. The idea to break up the story between past and present was awesome and I love how those moments in the past inform his decisions in the present.
The Art: Walsh offers some beautifully dark, brilliantly detailed and disturbingly visceral imagery throughout the story. A wonderfully dark and disturbing visual feast.
