HBO Max is gathering an impressive and interesting roster of new series for its upcoming streaming service and one of its offerings dives into the world of Stephen King.
According to Variety, Stephen King, JJ Abrams Bad Robot productions and Warner Brothers Television have teamed up for a new series set in one of the most iconic locations in King’s canon, the Overlook Hotel.
“Overlook” is being described as “a horror-thriller series that explores the untold stories of the Overlook Hotel, the most famous haunted hotel in American fiction.” according to the Variety article. The Overlook and its dark history were featured heavily in King’s novels The Shining and its sequel Doctor Sleep. The location is also mentioned in King’s Misery, but its long history of horror, hauntings and murder make it an ideal location for a horror series.
The series is currently in early development and no premiere date has been released.
