After learning more, the Corinthian is summoned back to the Dreaming by Lucien and the pair research the strange creature.
Corinthian does some personal research into the stories of his former self. Nightmares of the previous Corinthian’s exploits in the waking world. At the same time, Flynn continues to see the Smiling Man and when she returns to her room, she discovers quickly just how much danger she finds herself in.
The Story: James Tynion IV crafts an engaging and intriguing story in this issue. There is a great ominous tone to the plot and the character interactions, especially Flynn and the Corinthian. The character itself is dark and threatening enough and the interactions with Flynn are enhanced with the unpredictability of what he might do next. It makes for some great tension as the story moves towards a fun, dark and entertaining climax.
The Art: Estherren delivers some wonderful, stylized art that showcases the characters beautifully. There are some wonderful visual details throughout and the art brilliantly captures the dark reality of the waking world as well as the wonder of the Dreaming.
