The Rundown: Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland find themselves embroiled in a dangerous mystery.
Edwin decides to bring his friend Charles to the set of an action movie to lift his spirits as he deals with a personal loss the two ghost detectives weren’t expecting. At the same time, a young man discovers that the girl he likes has become something otherworldly.
As the two boy detectives find themselves on the case of a missing girl, their investigation will bring them into the presence of a group of them. A group being protected by a ghost doctor named Dom. As the boys learn more about the new ghosts they have come in contact with, a dark spirit goes on the attack while a familiar face deals with both captivity and her plans for revenge.
The Story: An intriguing and engaging first issue from Pichetshote. As a lover of all things Sandman, the story does a great job of both furthering the adventures of the characters while also introducing these unique characters to new readers. The mystery is unique, entertaining and intense and the first issue has me excited to see where the story goes next and what will happen with its characters.
The Art: Stokely brings a unique and visually engaging style to the first issue. The art style is wonderfully detailed and does a great job of setting the tone of the series and its characters.
