The Rundown: The family continues to adjust to life in the past while another person under protection runs into trouble.

Rachel reflects on her life in the future and the sacrifices she made there to secure a life with her family. Something Roland recognizes as he decides to take his wife out for a date night. At the same time, Rodney continues to meet the older women in the neighborhood and keep up his routine and the kids continue to get used to living in the past while the mobsters the family’s oldest child has been secretly stealing from get closer to finding him.
Further back in the past, another time displaced witness finds himself at the mercy of a group of Native Americans that he wronged and has to be rescued by a future case worker with a connection to the Rocketfeller family. A witness who will discover that he is not as safe as he believed when the mysterious and deadly Raina comes calling.
The Story: I continue to find myself invested in this story and the characters within it and Tomasi is crafting an interesting world to explore. That being said, with the exception of the Jeremiah Wood storyline, the pacing of the main story is starting to drag. Having these characters continue to seemingly skate through mundane experiences feels repetitive. I like that the danger seems to be picking up speed, but it’s not doing it fast enough to hold my attention. However, I am interested in seeing what Tomasi does next for these characters and what that looks like for the family.
The Art: Manapul delivers beautiful art throughout the issue. I like the visual details a lot and how the imagery changes with the tone of the story.
