The Rundown: More secrets are revealed to the group and an expedition into the woods reveals something unexpected.
Veronica picks up the story and chronicles her relationship with Walter and how they became friends. Their history reveals clues that confirm that Walter has been making his plans for a long time and adding others to the mix wasn’t his original intention. When the two are alone, he reveals who and what he really is in a moment of reflection. A moment he makes her forget when he decides to alter his plans. Veronica also reveals that things weren’t always in Walter’s control and that Reg had more influence on Walter than any of them knew.
After the revelations made about the housemates mortality, they decide to collectively learn about the rules they find themselves living under. When one of them suggests that its time to start comparing notes and revealing secrets, the groups disperses and one decides to try to talk to Walter on his own. The next day the group lays out what they know and collectively decide to visit the other house Sam discovered. After discovering a possible way in, they quickly reveal someone new who has a message for them all.
The Story: James Tynion IV does a brilliant job of keeping the reader engaged with the mystery of this series and every interaction makes you mine for possible clues that help build the world of the story. The plot continues to be compelling mostly through the eyes of the characters who are given great moments to grow and evolve both personally and in their relationships with each other. The mystery continues to keep me invested in the series and the twist at the end of the issue was perfectly executed.
The Art: Alvaro Martinez Bueno blows me away with the art in this issue. The visuals are stunning an beautifully detailed. The art does a brilliant job of matching the pace and energy of the story.
