The Rundown: Sam and Duncan find betrayal in their fight to save their daughter.

After giving more of their essence to a dark entity, Sam and Duncan find themselves depleted as Brio prepares his forces to take on the Cascade coming for them all. As they board a ship to take on their enemies, the forces of Penny’s dreams begin to fight. Unfortunately, the fight is not going well.

As the couple fights in the dream world, they discover too late that they have been betrayed by the one person they trusted to help them rescue their daughter. As Tash reveals his plan for the family, Sam and Duncan find themselves rescued by something dark that lives within their daughter’s mind.

The Story: Daniel Warren Johnson continues to craft a thrilling, suspenseful and engaging story in this issue. I continue to love the conflict throughout the issue both in the action and interpersonal drama. I love the buildup of tension throughout the story and was blindsided by the betrayal. A moment that made me love the series and this issue even more both for its stakes and surprises. I also thoroughly loved the reveal at the end and am excited to see what it means for the story going forward.

The Art: Daniel Warren Johnson and Riley Rossmo craft beautiful art on every page of this issue. I love finding new and visually engaging moments in every page and panel.
