The Rundown: Sam and Duncan face a dark and familiar face in the battle to save their child.
Sam discovers that one of the beings holding her daughter is a personification of someone she loved from her past. Someone whose loss still affects her. As Duncan and the others move in, they find a way to escape with Penny. Unfortunately, their escape is short lived and another one of their allies falls in the process.
As the parents regroup in the real world, Tash tells that there is another method they could use to free their daughter. A more dangerous one that will have them taking her deep into the woods and also giving more power to a dangerous ally.
The Story: I continue to be consistently surprised and delighted by how unique and engaging this story is and this issue is a wonderful mixture of mystery, tragedy and determination. The story is filled with great action and thrills as the story continues to grow and evolve both with its characters and the drama surrounding them. I am invested in the world of this story and cannot wait to see what happens next.
The Art: Johnson and Rossmo continue to craft beautiful art throughout the issue. I love the fantasy elements brought to life and how they inform the tone of a scene and the art is beautifully detailed and immersive.
