The Rundown: Torque and the mermaid fight for their lives and discover they might be closer to their goal.
Torque and the Mermaid find themselves fighting a strike team of mutants on top of a volcano. After finding ways to work together, the pair winning a decisive victory over their attackers and Torque shows the Mermaid that they are close to their goal. Torque is rewarded with not only a gift from the mermaid, but also her name and a story from her past.
After Torque learns more about Isla and her journey, the pair sees a chase below them. A chase they choose not to get involved with until Torque points out that their next stop is right in the heart of where the mutants have taken their prisoners.
The Story: Derek Kirk Kim continues to craft a beautifully rich and engaging world in this series. The story is filled with great action and thrills. I not only love the world of this story, but also the dynamic between the characters and how they interact with that world and each other. The story is incredibly thrilling and entertaining and I have become immersed in this story and the characters.
The Art: Derek Kirk Kim continues to create some beautifully detailed and incredibly visually immersive art throughout the issue. I continue to love the visual style of this series and this issue is filled with amazing imagery.
