The Rundown: As Hulk moves closer to Vegas, another powerful creature in the past makes a similar journey.
As Hulk moves through the desert to force the Eldest to free Charlie, the creature itself tells a tale of a similar creature from the long past.
A withered old man walks across the desert heading towards a haunted city. As he nears, he sees a family attacked by giant demon creatures and intervenes with power that seems to come from the green door. Power that the creature that rules the city wants for herself to free an ancient evil.
The Story: Kennedy Johnson crafts some interesting and entertaining lore in this issue, but it feels too separate from the Hulk’s story. I know the elements that try to link to it, but I don’t feel a connection to it and it just feels like a lore dump rather than world building. It just isn’t particularly effective in enhancing the world of this story and wouldn’t compel me to keep reading if this were my first issue of Hulk.
The Art: Earls delivers some beautifully dark and detailed art throughout the issue. The visuals craft some amazing vistas and character designs.
