The Rundown: Banner must find a way to escape back to his own body, but there are darker forces at work within him.
Banner continues to live through a series of nightmares that bring him back to the Hulkscape. After being confronted by the ghost of an old friend, Banner is allowed to escape to find a way back to the real world to help Charlie. As Hulk continues his journey to Vegas, Banner finds himself confronted by the dominant personality within him and the sins of his own past that caused this further rift.
After traversing the dark recesses of the Hulkscape, Banner is confronted by the Hulk who wants him gone completely. He also finds himself visited by someone who could have a solution that ends the Hulk once and for all.
The Story: Phillip Kennedy Johnson continues to craft a dark and compelling story for both Hulk and Banner in this series. I love exploring the dark recesses of the character’s mind and seeing the escalating conflict between the two. It’s impossible to predict who is really in control at any given time and both sides of the persona are so emotionally damaged that they create fantastic drama for the reader. I also really enjoy the dark temptation within the story and how it plays on the conflict between Hulk and Banner.
The Art: Klein delivers beautifully dark and disturbing art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and how it manifests the dark, disturbing world of the characters.
