The Rundown: The Last Men Standing fight to survive as their leader goes on a personal mission.
Cal has left the rest of the Last Men Standing in order to both find Tara and try to salvage the fragile peace between the humans and the orcs as the threat of the Vangol continues to spread. Cal finds himself getting closer to his goal, but the dangers continue to grow throughout his journey.
The rest of the Last Men Standing find themselves confronted by another group that warns them of more Vangol in the area. A warning that will have them on edge as they confront the creatures and deal with something that could potentially change the face of the conflict.
The Story: Wilson continues to craft a thrilling, compelling and deeply immersive world in this series. The world of this story continues to grow and evolve in ways that keep me interested and intrigued with every twist and turn of the story. I like that this issue gives us more insight into the rest of the Last Men Standing. I got a better sense of their comradery and I appreciated them in new ways. At the same time, I also liked seeing the other factors in this conflict as well as Cal’s going after Tara. A consistently engaging, compelling and masterful series.
The Art: Wildgoose delivers some beautifully detailed and visually compelling art throughout the issue. I continue to be enamored by the visual style at play in this series and how immersive the imagery is.
