The Rundown: Cal and his forces face a dangerous enemy while searching for one of their own.
As fires rage in the forest, Cal, Tara and the Last Men Standing continue their journey. Cal’s concern that Mikil is overdue leads him to confide in Tara who has a connection to the missing man and knows that he is not dead Unfortunately, he is in the hands of the Vangol who have a plan to stop Cal and his forces.
Mikil discovers that the Vangol are escaping something even they fear as they use him as bait to trap Cal and the others. When Cal comes for his friend, a fierce battle ensues whose aftermath will lead to harsh words and even harsher feelings between Cal and Tara.
The Story: Wilson continues to craft a beautifully detailed and immersive world in this story. I love these characters and their personalities and find myself more involved in their interpersonal conflicts as well as the bigger mystery unfolding before them. The story has great action throughout and a story that compels me to come back for both the drama and budding romance between the characters.
The Art: Wildgoose delivers brilliant art throughout the issue. The visuals are stunning in their action and character details. I love the visual style of this series and how this issue continues to speak to the fantasy fan inside me.
