The Rundown: Chance’s investigation will challenge his growing relationship.
Christopher Chance has been having an unexpected relationship with Ice that he is finding harder and harder to separate himself from. Things get more complicated for the pair when he discovers that the poison that is slowly killing him is linked not only to a hero, but to Ice’s best friend Fire. A revelation that will put strain on the relationship and force Chance to move on.
Unfortunately, his plan to confront Fire gets interrupted by Ice’s return and a return to their relationship. A relationship that attracts Ice’s former boyfriend Guy Gardner who has been getting increasingly hostile to the couple. A hostility that will not only come to a devastating ending, but will also send Chance heading straight for a meeting he isn’t prepared for.
The Story: King brings some great energy and mystery to this issue as well as some surprises that I did not see coming. Ones that will change everything about the characters and Chance’s investigation. The slow burn of the story continues to keep me engaged and each issue makes the story more rich and compelling as it sets the perfect narrative mood.
The Art: I love the classic style of the art and how perfectly it matches the tone and mood of the story. It is a wonderful visual interpretation of noir style imagery.
