Yukito Kishiro’s Battle Angel Alita manga debuted in 1990 and ran for 9 volumes. It’s an incredible story and is now coming to the big screen from Avatar producer James Cameron and Sin City director Robert Rodriguez.

The film centers on Alita, a cyborg left for dead in a trash heap. When she is discovered and rebuilt from cyberneticist Dr. Dyson Ido, she cannot remember who she is or anything else except for her mastery of a martial arts form known as Panzer Kunst. Her skills lead her to become a bounty hunter and create a new life for herself. During the course of her journey, she tries to discover the mystery of her past as well as taking on threats to those around her.

Alita: Battle Angel stars Rosa Salazar as Alita, Christoph Waltz as Dr. Ido, Keeann Johnson as Hugo, Mahershala Ali as Vector, Ed Skrein, Michelle Rodriguez, Jennifer Connelly and Jackie Earle Haley.

Alita: Battle Angel will be released in theaters July 20, 2018.
