The Rundown: A man meets a mysterious woman with a dangerous link to his past.
Nolan Ward exists in a world where he can indulge in the vices he enjoys. Vices that allow him to forget the tragedy of his past and the abuse he suffered at the hands of the monster living in his home. Vices that will bring him face to face with a mysterious woman names Liza who invites him to an art exhibition.
After meeting her at the gallery, he is confronted by a strange piece of art he recognized from his past. A piece of art that he found and brought home to deal with the monster he lived with. A piece of art that he thought he forgot about, but has never been far away from him. A piece of art that has an insatiable hunger.
The Story: Booher creates a fantastic story in this issue. As a fan of series like Twilight Zone and Outer Limits, this story has a lot of those elements that I connected with as a reader and horror fan. The story has a fantastic premise and buildup of suspense with the main character and everything comes together both in the rising terror and tension to a fantastic twist ending that makes me want to see more of this world explored.
The Art: Zucker delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. The visuals are beautifully styled and convey the darkness and suspense of every moment.
