The Eyes of Ara
100 Stone Interactive
Nintendo Switch
Alone on a remote island stands a long-abandoned castle, the source of many a ghastly rumor and unsettling tale. Not all is as it seems. A mysterious signal has begun broadcasting from somewhere within the ancient halls. Something inside the castle has awoken, and someone needs to venture inside to discover the truth.
Graphics
The Eyes of Ara is a first person 3D adventure that has the player exploring a mysterious, ancient castle filled with puzzles to solve and dark corners and areas to explore. The 3D environments are what makes this game interesting. The rooms look delightfully dark and ominous. There are interesting things to explore and the game looks really good both the Switch display and on television.
Gameplay
Playing the game is where The Eyes of Ara really struggles. There are two modes of play. TV mode allows for one controller to allow the user to move the camera and activate and utilize the puzzles. Handheld mode takes away the use of the controllers and utilizing the touch screen of the Switch. The controls are fine for PC controls, but can be unyielding and annoying at times.
Replay-ability
The story is engaging and the visuals are beautiful to look at. Getting past the gameplay issues, The Eyes of Ara is a game worth playing to solve the mysteries and fun puzzles.
