Another Marvel Studios series for streaming service Disney Plus is taking another step forward.
According to an exclusive in The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige have tapped indie filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead to team up with Clash director Mohamed Diab to direct the upcoming Moon Knight series starring Oscar Isaac.
Diab will act as showrunner with Umbrella Academy writer Jeremy Slater leading the writer’s room. Diab, Benson and Moorhead will direct episodes of the series. Benson and Moorhead are the writers and directors of the indie sci-fi thriller The Endless as well as Synchronic starring MCU alum Anthony Mackie.
Moon Knight follows the adventures of former Marine turned mercenary Marc Spector who is the conduit for the moon god Khonshu. Spector fights crime while also dealing with a dissociative identity disorder that leads him to take on other personas.
The series is set to begin filming in Budapest this March.
Side Note: I had the privilege of interviewing Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead before the release of their film The Endless. You can listen to that episode of the Super Powered Fancast here.
