The Rundown: Ruin and Heather are captured and Auberon must face his own mistakes.
Ruin and Heather have been brought before the new queen and they discover quickly that she might not have the level of control over her subjects as they have been led to believe. That becomes more evident when Ruin and Heather are separated after Ruin attempts to free them using his powers.
In the aftermath, a disguised Jophiel and Auberon return to the castle just as everyone leaves and Auberon discovers what happened to Titania. As he attempts to smooth things over with his wife, Ruin finds a way to enter the dream of his captor and Dream worries what will happen when the nightmare discovers his true nature.
The Story: Spell-binding and engaging, Wilson brilliantly brings the reader into the world of these characters. Each one is given a sense of agency and everything in the story works from the tension to the reveals. The plot is great and filled with fun moments, especially Heather’s past. I really enjoyed the poignancy of the moment between Auberon and Titania and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
The Art: Robles and Perker knock it out of the park with the art. There are moments of great visual beauty mixed with some scary moments and atmosphere. A great looking issue.
