The Rundown: Hynes is brought in to answer questions about the Department’s work.

Hynes is brought in by the powers that be to answer questions. Questions about the nature of the work Oswald has been engaging in and what Hynes’ role in that work is. After telling them about his role in the creation of the Mothman mythology, he reveals the purpose of it and what Oswald hoped to gain from its creation.

Things get even stranger when Hynes reveals that Oswald’s original plan might have attracted the attention of someone or something that they hadn’t thought of. Something different than the mysterious woman in red they’ve been hunting. Something powerful with an unknown intent.

The Story: Tynion IV does some unique and interesting storytelling in this issue. Having the story shaped in this way does something interesting to the reader in how the story begins to be interpreted. The story continues to be deeply compelling and brilliantly written. I continue to be impressed with the scope and ambition of this series and I cannot wait to see what James Tynion IV comes up with next.

The Art: Romero does some brilliant work with the art in this issue. The art itself is a unique element in this particular issue and it works brilliantly in tandem with the style of the story itself.
