The Rundown: The adventures of Hup and Barfinnious continue as the “Paladin” and his squire are tasked with rescuing a friend from a monster.
A strange creature has attacked a small Gelfling village and Barfinnious sees an opportunity to increase his legend while also using the villagers. As he dismisses the fears of the villagers, Hup sees that there is something different about the tracks of this creature and wants to find a way to help.
Barfinnious continues to spin his tales to anyone who will listen and when the creature returns and takes one of the villagers, the would be hero and his squire are tasked with bringing her back. Unfortunately for Hup, he will learn the truth about the hero he has chosen to follow into adventure.
The Story: A fun story that finally gets to the truth about Barfinnious while also affirming everything that is great about Hup as a character. The mystery is sufficiently engaging and the plot is well done. Addiss, Matthews and Cesare craft an entertaining story that is filled with fun moments, revelations and a mystery that I want to see explored and resolved for Hup especially.
The Art: Carlomagno does some good work with the art in this issue. The characters are the best part of the art as Carlomagno gives them expression and emotion.
