Annabelle is one of the most successful spin-offs from the highly successful Conjuring universe of films and it looks like the third film in that series will bring the character full circle.
According to a report in Deadline, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farminga will reprise their roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the upcoming third film in the Annabelle franchise from IT scribe Gary Dauberman.
Although the duo will return for the film, they will only be involved as supporting characters. The third film will pick up after the Warrens have already procured Annabelle and taken her to a place where she cannot wreak havoc, the Artifacts Room in their home. According to the Deadline article, Annabelle will proceed to awaken the evil in the rest of the artifacts in the room and that evil will set its sights on the Warren’s ten year old daughter Judy along with her babysitter cousin and her friend.
James Wan will produce Annabelle 3 with Gary Dauberman both writing the screenplay and making his directorial debut helming the sequel. The film starts shooting this week with a July 3, 2019 release date.
