The next film in the Cloverfield universe is coming sooner than you think.
The Cloverfield Paradox looks like it is the direct prequel to the film that started it all. Premiering tonight on Netflix after the big game, The Cloverfield Paradox will take place on a space station and the events on board will lead to the invasion of Earth seen in the original Cloverfield film. The film, directed by Julius Onah features a group of scientists on board a space station who conduct an experiment on board involving a particle accelerator that causes the Earth to vanish. Cut off from home, the scientists must deal with a possible alien threat while they fight for survival.
The film stars David Oyelowo (Selma), Ellizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Chris O’Dowd (Get Shorty), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Black Mirror), Ziyi Zhang (The Crossing) and Daniel Bruhl (The Alienist).
It is a huge coup for Netflix to release the film immediately following the big game and right after releasing the first trailer and I know I will be checking the film out and leaving my review tomorrow.
