The Rundown: Simon and his friend Honora travel to an idyllic village filled with secrets.
Simon Bruttenholm has traveled to the idyllic village of Noxton with his friend and fellow British Paranormal Society member Honora Grant. Honora is there to investigate the town’s traditions while Simon is looking for a friend who was there to investigate a series of standing stones in the area.
As the two tour the town separately, Honora interviews people in the town and determines that there is something under the surface that they are unwilling or unable to talk about. Something about their local traditions that they keep close and secretive. On their first night, Honora sees a mysterious stranger in the local graveyard while Simon is attacked when he discovers the standing stones.
The Story: Roberson delivers an entertaining and interesting first issue that has some great mystery bubbling within it. The story and characters are interesting and engaging. The mystery is compelling and I love the classic feel of the storytelling. Having both characters discover things on their own is a great narrative choice as well and adds color and depth to the story. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Andrea Mutti creates some beautiful visuals throughout the issue. The characters look great and the panels are filled with beautiful details.
