The Rundown: Sam Wilson finds himself alone facing the new Masters of Evil.

As the Avengers take on Doom, another gathering is taking place. A gathering to determine what will be the next move of the newly formed Masters of Evil. With the Mad Thinker in command, he proposes that they oppose Doom with a nation of their own. A nation that is currently floating in the skies over the planet, the Impossible City.

At the same time, Sam is badly wounded in the battle with Doom and Carol transports him back to the city to be treated. As the City’s AI helps him, it discovers too late that it has been hacked and that the Masters of Evil have taken over. With only an injured Sam Wilson and one Plastoid housing the city’s consciousness, the pair must take on the Masters of Evil to free the city and protect the planet.

The Story: MacKay crafts a thrilling story in this issue, but there are some plot holes that annoyed me. This highly intelligent, futuristic flying city seems to lack the basic elements of self-protection. It bothered me that it could be taken over that easily, but the story does have some solid moments for Sam Wilson. There’s some great action in the story as well as an interesting threat that I am interested in seeing play out.

The Art: Schiti delivers fantastic art in the issue. I love the gorgeously detailed action scenes and the character designs.
