The Rundown: The Avengers have a new chairman and she needs to create a new team.

Carol Danvers has been chosen to lead the Avenges and she immediately gets to work recruiting the team. A prospect that will require making some interesting choices as well as calling in some old friends. It also includes bringing T’Challa in from his exile and giving him the opportunity to be a hero again.

Once her team is assembled and their new mandate is clear, the Avengers find themselves fighting Terminus to keep it from getting control of an artificial black hole. In the ensuing battle, Carol finds herself far from home and face to face with an old enemy.

The Story: MacKay is attempting to take the Avengers in a new direction with this first issue and I like seeing that their individual issues are getting in the way, but not preventing them from being a team. The team has an interesting mixture of old and new and there are some interpersonal conflicts within the team that I want to see explored. The cliffhanger also grabbed my attention with both the character and the implications of his appearance.

The Art: Villa delivers great character designs and interpersonal moments as well as awesome action and thrilling imagery.
