The Rundown: Ben goes back to Beyond leaving Peter and friends to clean up his mess.
After Ben abandons them and releases a mutated Lizard on his friends, Peter, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing have to try and find a way to bring it down. As they fight Conners long enough to escape, the three discover that Beyond has twisted Lizard using DNA from another one of Spider-Man’s former foes. At the same time, Ben returns to Beyond and discovers a less than friendly welcome. As he fights his way through the building, the target of his fury is preparing to destroy everything before escaping.
Peter and the others free Morbius who agrees to help them when Lizard escapes as Ben goes hunting through Beyond for his missing memories. After an unexpected rescue from the woman he loves, Ben and Janine make their way to Maxine’s office. At the same time, Monica and her team try to stop Lizard while Peter tries to stop Ben before he does something drastic and inescapable.
The Story: Thompson and MacKay ramp up the drama, tension and action in this issue. The story has great action throughout and some fun dialogue. I really liked the twists in the story with the return of Lizard and Morbius. I really enjoyed the changing tone of the story as the Ben Reilly storyline gets more serious. The plot has a great energy to it and I love what it is building to.
The Art: All of the artists do an awesome job of bringing great visuals, tone and details to the story. All of the art styles complement each other and serve the story brilliantly.
