The Rundown: An attack reveals the return of a dangerous enemy, but that’s not the only reveal that will affect Spider-Man.

Peter finally finds himself early for school despite the hectic nature of his life. Unfortunately, he’s too late to help Curt Connors who has been attacked by Doc Ock and the newly reformed Sinister Six. After discovering that Connors has been separated from the Lizard, Spider-Man goes on the hunt. At the same time, Mary Jane goes in search of Carlie, but the missing woman has been captured and thrown into a cell with someone she recently believed was dead.

Boomerang is still drowning his sorrows in booze after betraying his friends and finds himself getting offered a new job. Octopus and his crew meet face to face with their mystery benefactor who has plans for Peter. Plans that will gather all of Spider-Man’s foes against him as they prepare for war.

The Story: There are a lot of storylines at play in this issue. Spencer does a great job of keeping the story moving as it expands and connects all of its elements and players. Spencer continues the dark tone that’s been established with Peter versus Kindred and that tone can be a little too ominous at times, but it teases some great drama and story to come. The story acts as a prelude to a bigger arc to come and does a great job of bringing all the story threads together.

The Art: Vicentini delivers some great visuals throughout this issue. While the action to come is only teased at, the tone and style of the art makes me excited to see what Vicentini does when things really start to happen.
