The Rundown: Things take a dark turn with Tombstone as Peter is confronted by a familiar face.
Peter Parker sits in court as the judge considers Tombstone’s recent actions and fight with Spider-Man. A consideration that will lead to the case being dismissed and Tombstone walking free. Something that an injured Peter Parker finds hard to take, especially when Tombstone confronts him with the truth.
In the aftermath, Peter pays a visit to May just in time for Sandman to attack. An attack that will lead to May confronting Spider-Man about the danger he is putting her nephew in.
The Story: The issue has a series of smaller stories added to it, but this review is about the main story. I will touch on the others, but honestly they are continuations of story elements I didn’t enjoy to begin with. Mary Jane’s story continues to be an annoying satellite story for Peter and Ben/Chasm’s story is even worse. The initial story is a good way to close Wells’ chapter of Spider-Man’s story. It’s uneven, has little to no heart and retreads story elements that have been done before and better by others. The issue is one that I regrettably am glad has ended and I hope that the next writer has something worth saying for this character.
The Art: Romita Jr. delivers some good art for the story. There isn’t a lot happening within it except for the Sandman fight, but the visuals work for the story itself.
