The Rundown: Spider-Man tries to help his friends when Tombstone gets out of prison.
After getting Tombstone arrested for assault, Spider-Man pays him a visit. A visit that will take a dark turn when Tombstone is granted bail and walks out. Something that will prompt Spider-Man to pay a visit to his friends in the Mayor’s office to help him get Randy and Janice somewhere safe.
As the attempt to get them out of the city, Tombstone sends his crew to kill them both. With Spider-Man putting himself in the position to help them, everyone discovers that things have gone wrong and Tombstone is putting another plan into action.
The Story: Wells crafts an interesting story in this issue. I enjoyed the slow burn of tension and suspense throughout and how dark the tone of the story becomes. There is some great action in the story and I enjoy the conflicting emotional moments for many of the characters. Tombstone continues to be an interesting villain who is a lot darker than many of the foes Spider-Man faces. It will be interesting to see what happens in the aftermath of that dark and tension filled cliffhanger ending.
The Art: Romia Jr. continues to create some great art throughout the issue. The visuals are wonderfully detailed and perfectly capture the mood and tone of the story.
