The Rundown: Spider-Man will confront Kindred and the sins of his past while Sin Eater summons a dark threat.
Peter has been dreading the threat of Kindred for a while and now he is face to face with the villain who has been plaguing his life. To make matters worse, he in confronted with the dead bodies of the people in his life he has failed including Uncle Ben. As Kindred baits the wall crawler, Spidey goes into a rage and attacks only to discover that he is no match for the villain or his powers.
At the same time, Sin Eater gathers his followers and some dangerous stolen tech to summon Morlun in order to steal his powers. As Peter is shown his friends destroying the city, he decides to take responsibility and make the ultimate sacrifice to save the people he cares for.
The Story: Nick Spencer takes the story to a dark and personal place for Peter. The plot builds brilliantly from page to page as Peter fights against an enemy he is not prepared for and suffers the consequences for it. The Sin Eater side of the story is just as strong as the main one and both balance each other really well. Each page makes me interested in where the story goes next and the ending was both shocking and unexpected.
The Art: Patrick Gleason does a lot with the art in this issue. There is a lot going on in the story and Gleason keeps the art clean and full of beautiful details. There is a dark, dramatic energy to the story and the art perfectly captures it.
