The Rundown: With a massacre looming and his friend in danger, Spider-Man will have to find a way to stop Tombstone.
Mary Jane is putting one of her kids to bed when she gets a visitor from her old life. A visitor who wants to know if she’s had any contact with Peter. Unfortunately, the wall crawler has his hands full with a gun to his head and a ticking clock to an impending massacre by Tombstone’s men. With Robbie in the hands of Tomsbtone, Peter gets an unexpected hand from someone who lets him go.
Peter wastes no time taking down as many goons as he can while trying to get Randy to find his father. With time running out and more goons to take out, Spider-Man will learn too late that Tombstone is a lot more clever than he thought as he finds himself in the aftermath of a problem of his own making.
The Story: Wells does a brilliant job of taking the story in some unexpected and beautifully surprising directions. There is great tension throughout as both Peter and Randy race to stop events they think could lead to death and everything leads to a brilliant revelation that left me stunned and pleased.
The Art: Romita Jr. delivers some visually stunning art throughout this issue. The visuals perfectly match the tension, terror and danger of the story as it moves both stories along to their surprising conclusions.
