Black Cat is not content to sit and wait around with Billy Conners for someone to rescue them.
Spider-Man is dealing with the aftermath of the carnage he sees all around and the park being littered with dead bodies. After escaping an attack from the Kraven-bots, he decides to hide and get some answers. After discovering that there aren’t people inside the robots, he starts following a set of clues that leads him to the missing villains and a speech from their new leader, Vulture.
Felicia finds herself still locked up with Billy and formulates a plan to escape. A plan that involves her bad luck powers, an overconfident guard and a row of wild animal cages just waiting to be opened.
After watching the remaining villains run off to enact Vulture’s new plan, Peter finds an unlikely ally in Black Ant who is willing to tell the wall-crawler everything. At the same time, Kraven assures his increasingly frustrated son that the time for their next hunt is coming.
Nick Spencer hits the nail on the head both in tone and pace for this issue. All of the story and action beats work and the reveals are worthwhile and often amusing despite the seriousness of the situation. Spencer does great things with Felicia and Peter in this issue and I can’t wait to see where this story goes next.
Gerardo Sandoval delivers with the art in this issue. The characters look great and the action looks even better.
