The Rundown: Gregg battles his uncle in an attempt to save Manhattan.
Diego, Tress, and Summer make contact with Gregg in the midst of a crowd of Grodd’s Zombies. After an altercation occurs, Gregg makes a move to protect Summer from Grodd’s influence. She then leaves the scene to gather her allies. Meanwhile, Grodd confronts his nephew and the two engage in battle. When Grodd’s reinforcements arrive, something surprising occurs. Later, Gregg has a heartfelt conversation with a fellow Titan. Finally, Grodd receives an unexpected gift.
The Story: In this chapter, Sheridan neatly wraps up the Grodd story arc by pitting uncle and nephew against each other in an all-out brawl. I was intrigued by the characters’ familial interactions, as well as their differing opinions. Their relationship felt very familiar. Two generations of family members in an oppressed group having differing opinions on race and survival is very common. And I appreciate the story’s bold way of handling the topic. I also like the ending resolution and how it showed the strong bond that Grodd and Gregg have. I am curious to see what adventures await The Titans in the next issue.
The Art: The illustrations in this chapter are filled with brilliant colors and detailed drawings. There is a youthfulness and energy to the pages that are extremely captivating. I feel that the artwork is a perfect fit for the story being told.
