The Rundown: The kids discover civilization as the cult prepares to bring them back.
The cult sends another hit team to either bring back or kill the kids who escaped. They find themselves in a battle where not all of them will make it out alive. The next day, the woman who took them in takes them into town where they experience being teenagers for the first time.
After meeting fellow teenagers and experiencing music and more, the teens let their guard down. Unfortunately, the cult and their government handlers know where they are and the two learn quickly they aren’t the only ones who escaped.
The Story: An entertaining story that does a great job of fleshing out the characters and giving them more relatable and interesting. I enjoy how layered and cinematic this story is with elements of young love, coming of age as well as action and adventure. Baruchel and Jensen are crafting an entertaining and immersive story in this series and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
The Art: Micelli delivers some great art in the issue. I love the visual style of this series and how it utilizes shadow as well as bringing emotion out in many of the compositions.
