Critically acclaimed novelist and essayist Ta-Nehisi Coates will continue to work in the world of comics with news of a new assignment for the Black Panther writer.
According to multiple outlets including The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, writer Ta-Nehisi Coates has been hired by Warner Brothers to reboot the DC Comics hero Superman with a new film. The last film ‘Man Of Steel’ was released in 2013. According to the outlets, JJ Abrams will produce the new feature film.
Abram released a statement saying; “There is a new, powerful and moving Superman story yet to be told. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with the brilliant Mr. Coates to help bring that story to the big screen, and we’re beyond thankful to the team at Warner Bros. for the opportunity.”
Coates also released a statement about his new gig saying; “To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor,” he said to the website Shadow and Act. He went on to say; I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero.”
Ta-Nehisi Coates is the acclaimed writer of books like The Beautiful Struggle and Between the World and Me. He is also a prolific comic book writer taking on iconic heroes like Black Panther and Captain America.
