The Rundown: Paprika and Dill have a first date, but their evening is interrupted by some unwelcome visitors.
While her father calls looking for her, Paprika is being driven to an area outside of the city in order to meet Dill somewhere for an actual date. Not knowing what he is up to, Paprika is both annoyed and angry when he shows up and one of her subordinates sees him. Paprika is disarmed when she sees that Dill put in some effort with his appearance, but she still insists on the two of them eating somewhere secluded.
As the two of them enjoy a meal together, they get to know more about each other and Paprika is surprised to discover that the normally confident Dill has his own set of insecurities. As the two become closer in more ways than one, they find their intimate encounter interrupted by Paprika’s ex and her rival. As the awkward evening continues, Burnet attempts to do something that could ruin Paprika’s relationship, and she gets a last minute save when Dill does something unexpected.
The Story: Andolfo delivers a fun, funny and intimate tale in this issue. There is a great energy to the plot and the characters, and I continue to love the evolution and progression of the dynamic between Paprika and Dill. There is a reason the “will they/won’t they” trope works in entertainment and Andolfo does a brilliant job of capturing that dynamic and the emotions that come with it.
The Art: Andolfo crafts some beautiful, funny, sensual and emotionally riveting moment with the art in this issue. There are great, emotive moments with the characters and the world building has a wonderful visual tone and style.
