The Rundown: Paprika’s complicated personal life gets more complicated when it spills into her work.
Dill’s dad decides it’s time to spend some more time with him. Unfortunately, his plans go out the window when he realizes that Dill spent the night at Paprika’s. A prospect she immediately regrets when she finds him washing his dog in her bathroom and her mother making them both breakfast. Paprika is further inconvenienced by the fact that her mother seems to be enamored with Dill making it almost impossible to get rid of him.
Things get even worse when Paprika’s mother believes that her daughter and Dill are dating and Dill decides to let her. Unable to leave, Dill decides to take a tour of Paprika’s place in order to learn more about her while she keeps working. As Paprika looks for a way to get Dill to shut up and leave her alone, her old fears kill the mood again. Things get even more intense for Paprika when a rival at work decides to get some dirt on her through Dill for a familiar third party.
The Story: Andolfo continues to weave an entertaining and interesting tale in this issue. The comedic complications of her personal and work life continue to be engaging. Both Dill and Paprika are evolving as characters into more complicated people whose story I want to explore. There are some great moments to be found throughout the story and I continue to be impressed with the balance between the comedic elements of the story and Paprika’s journey through her own trauma.
The Art: Andolfo’s art is a beautiful mix of detail and exaggeration that come together into a unique style that is a feast for the eyes. I love the look of this comic and how its style perfectly captures the tone and mood of each moment.
