The Rundown: Diana tries to stop a rogue Supergirl from infecting the world, but the government has decided to take lethal measures to stop the Girl of Steel.
Supergirl has taken over the town of Smallville and is preparing to release The Batman Who Laughs toxin on the world and Wonder Woman is in a pitched battle to stop her without killing her in the process. Unfortunately, the threat she poses prompts the government to utilize some Luthor tech to take down Kara with lethal force.
To make matters worse, the weapons don’t discriminate between threats and potential victims. Diana goes after the weapons and Supergirl tries to help the citizens, who are too scared of her to be moved. When the weapons going after her get lethal, Supergirl emerges from the fight in an even more devastating state.
The Story: Houser definitely ramps up the action and tension in this issue. The progression of this story is perfectly executed and Houser does an excellent job of bringing this story to a rousing and awesome cliffhanger ending. There are great moments throughout and having Kara face off against Diana is great. I look forward to seeing where this story goes next with the gut punch of an ending Houser delivered.
The Art: Rachael Stott delivers some awesome visuals in this issue. Everything looks great from the characters to the action and the issue ends with a beautiful, dark and dramatic shot of Supergirl that immediately makes me wants to see what happens next to the character.
