The Rundown: A young woman with a unique ability investigates murders.
Yoon-Sook Namgung is a young woman with a unique gift. She can see the threads that connect others through either romantic entanglement or murder. When she comes in to consult with the police, she is assigned to Detective Mayfield who is impressed with her gift even after learning of a romantic problem close to home.
After learning more about each other, Mayfield brings Yoon-Sook to the morgue, she immediately finds a thread connecting a victim to their potential killer and the two of them give chase. In the aftermath, Yoon-Sook returns home and discovers a thread connected to her. One she can’t determine will make her either a killer or a victim.
The Story: Tobin crafts an interesting and entertaining premise in this first issue. The characters are interesting and complex and I really enjoy the banter between them. There is something really intriguing beneath the surface of this story and there are so many complicated elements that I want to see explored. I like it when a first issue captures my attention and leaves me with a mystery that makes me want to read more.
The Art: Carlos Javier Olivares delivers some beautifully detailed and brilliantly designed art. I love the character designs a lot and love that Yoon-Sook stands out amongst the other characters.
