The Rundown: Blade and his team head to Vegas to bring back a dead colleague and investigate how far the invasion reaches.
Daimon Hellstrom is dead and Blade has gotten a call from his sister saying he’s with her and acting strange. Gathering his reluctant teammates together, he takes them to Vegas to visit with Santana and hopefully get answers. Hopefully before she finds out Blade killed her brother.
When they meet her in her office, Satana shows them her brothers body floating and chained. After ushering her out of the room, the team gets to work not only transporting the body of the real Hellstrom to Vegas, but also searching for anymore Vridai shapeshifters lurking in the area. When Monica Rambeau and Bucky Barnes find more of them too close to comfort and go on the hunt. When the demons take one of their own, the Strikeforce will have to track him down before it’s too late.
The Story: A fun, well paced and entertaining issue. Tini Howard delivers some clever, charming and entertaining moments in an issue that keeps the action relatively subdued in order to concentrate on the characters. Everything Howard does with Jessica Drew is hilarious and perfectly timed. The dialogue is fun and the story kept me engaged. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
The Art: Peralta’s art does a great job of matching the light, but edgy tone of the story.
