The Rundown: Emily has a final showdown with her fellow students while the faculty fights to save the school.
Emily is supercharged and wants everyone to know how powerful she’s become. When one of the teachers tries to trick her, she shows that she is becoming more dangerous by the moment. With everything on the line, Doyle has to step in and do something he never thought he would in order to save both his fellow students and Emily from herself.
At the same time, the faculty fights the minions of Dormammu and are unable to protect the students on the field as one falls for the sake of the others. A sacrifice that will lead to one of the warring students fulfilling the prophecy that has hung over all of their heads.
The Story: Young brings this arc to a powerful, satisfying and bittersweet conclusion. The action is fantastic and there are both bittersweet moments of sacrifice throughout. The story has done a great job of evolving these characters from their beginnings in this series and their journey continues to compelling and entertaining. I like the cliffhanger the story leaves for one character and look forward to seeing how that character returns to the story.
The Art: Ramos ramps up the action in this issue. There is a great energy to the art that perfectly captures its tone and elevates it.
