The Rundown: Storm meets with Doom and unwittingly breaks a dangerous pact with a powerful being.
Storm has been granted a boon by a powerful entity. The price is that she is not allowed to use her powers for a period of time and she will continue to live. Unfortunately, being called to Latveria to meet with Doom is a dangerous proposition wrapped in civility as she prepares to dine with the new Sorcerer Supreme and discover what he wants with her.
After hearing Doom’s proposal and rejecting it, Doom does something that will force Ororo to use her powers. An act that will cause her immediate death and the release of a dangerous entity who has decided to take the world as well. As Ororo fades from life, something happens that could change her forever.
The Story: Ayodele continues to craft a wonderfully rich and engaging story for Ororo in this series. This issue has some great dialogue between Storm and Doom as well as some wonderful moments from Ororo’s past with her family. There is a great buildup of tension throughout the story as well and the reveal towards the end of the issue was a welcome surprise that was thrilling in its immediacy and makes me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Werneck delivers fantastic art throughout this issue. I love the character designs a lot and every page and panel conveys atmosphere, mood and style.
