The Rundown: As the town goes on lockdown, an unlikely group of rebels has their own plans for Stillwater.
In the aftermath of Laura finding a way to get her son out of town, little Galen comes to see her. The young boy seems to find a way to be different places at just the right time and his next location will give him the information he needs to begin the next phase of a plan. A plan by the most unlikely of conspirators designed to show the town just how bad immortality can be for some. As the rest of the events unfold, Galen and the rest of the kids learn more about the strangers in the town.
After Galen is captured, he tells Ted’s crew the truth about the town and the world he’s dropped them into. Using them to get control of the town, Galen decides it’s time to change things and he will use Daniel and the others to do it. As Galen imposes a new order in Stillwater, Daniel wonders if the town has traded one despot for another.
The Story: Zdarsky has taken this story is some new and intriguing directions in this issue. The premise continues to be unique and interesting, but the direction the story is taking is both surprising and unexpected and, to be honest, it all works. The way the kids have been in the background of this series for so long and how they assert themselves is a fantastic twist that leads to more twists I didn’t see coming and cannot wait to see explored.
The Art: Ramon K Perez delivers some fantastic art in this issue. There is a great dramatic feel to the visuals and many of the intense moments in the story are brought to stunning life on the page.
